Tim Hortons ‘assessing the situation’ after fire breaks out in new Sheffield restaurant
Tim Hortons said they are hoping to find out the full impact of the fire at their new Sheffield restaurant once an investigation has been completed.
Crews were called to the new restaurant at Crystal Parks Retail Park at 10pm on Tuesday, May 11, and found a fire inside.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is now under way and what impact this will have on the opening of the new restaurant.
A spokesperson for Tim Hortons said the fire was extinguished ‘quickly’ and they are now assessing the situation.
They said: “A fire occurred at our new Sheffield restaurant last night. The fire brigade attended and were able to extinguish this quickly.
"The relevant authorities are involved and we are assessing the situation. As this is still being looked in to, we hope to know the full impact once this investigation has been completed.”
Pictures on social media showed a fire inside the restaurant with at least one fire engine outside.
The drive-thru branch of the Canadian brand is set to open in Sheffield early this summer.
The restaurant is set to offer dine-in seating for up to 118 guests as well as a drive-thru service.
Kevin Hydes, Chief Commercial Officer of Tim Hortons franchise said: “As we continue our expansion across the UK, we knew it was only a matter of time before we found the perfect location to bring our first Tim Hortons drive-thru to Yorkshire.
"We’ve had huge demand to bring the brand to Sheffield and it really excites us to be launching in a city famed for its Ice Hockey and presence within the Elite League.”
