Shoppers across Sheffield are spoilt for choice with a number of major stores to choose from. Every week we compare prices across a range of items found in a typical weekly shopping basket to help you decide where you’ll get the best value.
How did the supermarkets compare?
There are some great deals to be had this week, wherever you choose to shop. Morrisons had the best priced pizza, with a thin-crust pepperoni pizza costing just 69p, which was the same price as a bunch of six bananas at Tesco.
Like most people, we like to mix our shopping list up a little every week.
This week we fancied a spot of baking and added plain flour to the list, with Sainsbury’s, Jack's and Aldi coming in joint cheapest for a 1.5kg bag. Aldi also came back with the best price for tinned rice pudding and a pack of four Aberdeen Angus beef burgers at 33p and £2.69 respectively.
Which Sheffield Supermarket was most affordable?
As our table shows, overall, the most affordable place to buy this week’s shopping basket was Aldi, which has superstores at St Mary’s Gate, Flora Street, Archer Road, Handsworth Road, Drakehouse Way, Fox Valley Way, Littlefield Road, and Ecclesfield. Our price comparison basket came in at just £19.84. Prices are correct as of 18 February.
Lidl, M&S and Asda were unable to participate in our price comparison this week, but we did welcome Jack’s to the roundup for the first time.
