The shopping centre’s many stores will be open as the next stage of the Government’s ‘roadmap’ out of lockdown comes into play, however there will still be strict rules to prevent the virus from spreading.

A spokesperson for Meadowhall said: “It’s important to keep a safe distance from others and to follow our keep left system at all times, please look out for signage and be considerate of others.

“We are carefully managing visitor numbers, so we can be confident that everyone can maintain social distancing. If we become particularly busy, we may ask you to queue considerately in a designated area outside, and may also temporarily close our car parks.

“Red / green indicators on our storefronts show if you are able to safely enter or not, depending on capacity.

“You must wear a face-covering at all times, unless you are exempt for medical reasons

“Please wash hands regularly, make use of hand sanitising stations and choose contactless payments where possible.

“Our on-site team are on hand to help, and have all been provided with suitable PPE such as face coverings and gloves to help them carry out their roles safely.”

As the lockdown eases, the foodhall will reopen on Monday. Rules will also be in place there to maintain safety.

A selection of restaurants and cafes will be offering a takeaway service for shoppers to enjoy at home or in one of two designated outdoor dining areas.

This includes covered spaces next to the Oasis Dining Quarter and a bespoke area outside the High Street entrance, next to Argos.

Darren Pearce, Centre Director at Meadowhall, said: “We know many of our customers are very excited about the reopening, and we are equally as excited to welcome them back.

"I think there’s an extra sense of enthusiasm around the lifting of the restrictions this time as we’re all optimistic for a brighter future, and I very much hope that is the case."
