Sheffield’s popular Peddler Market is back during lockdown – delivering to your door

The Peddler Night Market is, under normal circumstances, one of Sheffield's most popular events.

Every month hundreds of people are drawn to the same venue – an old industrial warehouse at 92 Burton Road in Neepsend – to enjoy street food, craft ales, cocktails and more.

The Government-imposed lockdown, and the prospect of social distancing measures for months to come, means a question mark hangs over when the next market can take place.

But now the organisers have found a way for the event to return in a different form – ‘Peddler To Your Door'.

“While we can’t deliver our monthly night market during lockdown, we can deliver a taste of Peddler to your home, with proper tasty street food, craft beer, ready-to-pour cocktails, spirits, cider, wine and fizz delivered to your door,” the team said.

“Fill your boots and know that you’re supporting independent traders at the same time.”

This weekend, April 24 and 25, three street food traders are taking part – vegan kebab specialist Döner Summer, burger purveyors Cow Boys and The Middle Feast, who will be serving Middle Eastern-inspired fried chicken with tahini gravy, mezzé and wings.

Street food can be ordered via Deliveroo and CityGrab for delivery on Friday and Saturday between 5pm and 10pm. Pre-orders will at open at 3pm on Friday.

People living within two miles of 92 Burton Road should use Deliveroo, which will cost £2.49. Those living in other Sheffield postcodes should use CityGrab; the delivery charge will add up to a normal taxi fare.

Pre-orders for drinks, meanwhile, are available on the Peddler website for delivery between 12pm and 6pm, to most Sheffield postcodes.

Freedom ale and lager, Hogan’s Cider and Red Willow Weightless IPA are available priced £5 for two pints, while there are two cocktail deals available – an Aperol Spritz package priced £50, comprising bottles of Aperol Spritz and Cava, and a case of Fever-Tree soda, as well as the £65 ‘supersonic gin and tonic package’, which includes a bottle of Bulldog Gin, a bottle Briottet Creme de Cassis, and a case of Fever-Tree Aromatic tonic water.
