Food retailers at a Sheffield market are ‘committed’ to staying open in lockdown - while all products are available for delivery on a new app.

Essential stores are still open at The Moor Market after the nation was put into a lockdown which takes legal effect today.

Bosses say products from all stalls – essential and non-essential - are available for ‘click and collect’ and home delivery.

ChefChef.store was launched in October. It allows shoppers to browse and buy from multiple traders and combine items in one delivery.

Dave Healy, of ChefChef.store, said: “We expect to be a little bit busier. The Moor market food retailers are committed to staying open this time, so we should keep delivering the whole way through it. Essential and non essential stores are still supplying items for home delivery and click and collect. Fingers crossed.”

ChefChef.store is a collaboration between ex-Tramlines organiser Dave Healy, the city council, City Grab, the delivery app run by City Taxis, and online platform ShopAppy.

Some 30 of the 70 traders were on board from day one, including third generation fishmongers Tissington, greengrocers Binghams and Stuarts, butchers Morley and Wateralls, Beer Central and Thai food specialist Lemongrass. The partners hope to roll out the service to markets across the country.

Despite its toughest year, The Moor Market only lost two stalls in 2020 - and gained four - including a Hungarian deli run by Zoltan Keresztes selling hampers, chocolates, meat and booze.

In November, traders joined a national campaign for all stallholders to remain open in lockdown two, saying they wanted ‘parity with supermarkets’ which have boomed during the pandemic. But it was unsuccessful.
