Sheffield's Crystal Peaks shopping centre confirms shop closure - and more could follow
Bosses at Crystal Peaks in Sheffield have expressed their ‘extreme disappointment’ at the decision of one business to leave the shopping centre – and confirmed more stores could close.
A centre spokesperson has confirmed Lloyds Pharmacy will close, while the current Shoe Zone lease is about to end with a new one yet to be agreed. New Look, which also has a store at Crystal Peaks, could also shut after trading was badly affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
The spokesperson said: “We are extremely disappointed with the decision by Lloyds Pharmacy to leave Crystal Peaks.
“We feel that a pharmacy is an essential part of the fabric of the centre and a facility that our visitors really appreciate. We certainly are aware how many people the loss of a much-valued service like this would affect.”
Centre management is now “actively looking” at ways of being able to maintain a pharmacy service going forward.
The spokesperson added: “We can confirm the current Shoe Zone lease with Crystal Peaks is coming to an end but we are now in very positive discussions with them about their future within the centre.
“As far as we are aware, New Look has no plans at this time to close their Crystal Peaks store. We are also aware, however, that the company in currently considering a new CVA (Company Voluntary Arrangement) as part of its national strategy in response to current trading conditions and we wait to see how this might affect their presence in Crystal Peaks, which has been one of their better performing stores.”
