The survey of over 600 Sheffield locals conducted by Sheffield Pubquest found that 72.9 per cent of respondents don't plan on heading to the pub this weekend or over the course of the next week.

One person said they didn't trust the easing of lockdown and weren't confident in visiting a bar. Another said they would wait until the initial hype had calmed down.

Sheffield Pubquest said: "We were surprised at the large majority who stated they wouldn't be heading to the pub within the first week of opening.

“As Sheffield pub enthusiasts we are keen to help the industry get back on its feet, and will be heading out again when we can, though we understand why some people may not feel ready as yet. We're definitely looking forward to enjoying a safe and socially distanced pint together."
