Sheffield bridal shop Blushes closes without warning leaving devastated brides in the lurch

The business had traded for more than 30 years

A Sheffield bridal shop has closed without warning leaving devastated brides in limbo.

Blushes Bridal Studio, at 1 London Road, is not answering calls or emails and all socials are down, including Facebook and Instagram. Its website states it has been trading for more than 30 years. But its status on Google is ‘permanently closed’.

Some customers are claiming they have paid upfront for dresses and accessories but are unable to reach the business.

On the ‘Yorkshire Brides on a Budget’ Facebook page, one mum said: “My daughter's dress is locked in the shop and I’ve heard nothing!”

In response, two people have said the shop is empty.

One person appealed to the company directly.

She wrote: “The sudden closure of Blushes is distressing for many couples, including my own family members who were set to get married.

“I urge the company to communicate effectively with those affected and provide a suitable solution.”

Gemma Hall, who said she was a seamstress at Blushes, said she helped remove stock before bosses had to lock the doors and hand the business over to the receivers.

She wrote: “We got all accessories and dresses which had arrived and belonged to customers out, all samples in the shop itself had to be left.”

She said someone would be in touch with customers about the dresses.

If a dress hadn’t arrived into the shop then the suppliers will still have them, she added.

She said: “It’s been a shock to myself and I couldn't have imagined how I would have felt if this had happened before my own wedding.”

Companies House records state the business is owned by Nicola Reeves and Dean Proudfoot.
