The Wick at Both Ends, on West Street, shut on 7 October after several members of staff were contacted by NHS Test and Trace and asked to go into self isolation.

A spokesperson for the bar said they felt the closure was “the necessary precaution to help protect our team and customers”.

On Friday, a post on The Wick at Both Ends’ Instagram page said: “Don’t worry we’ll be back soon, we’re reopening Friday 23 and we can’t wait to see you all!

“Oh and we almost forgot... we have some new cocktails coming your way!”

Barrowboy on Abbeydale Road also closed for several days last week after staff there were potentially exposed to coronavirus but has since reopened.

Some publicans in Sheffield have pleaded for a stricter lockdown as Tier 2 restrictions coupled with no additional financial support bite.
