With cafes and restaurants at the shopping centre only open for takeaway and delivery, sit-down eating areas such as the Oasis Dining Quarter are currently closed and shoppers are forbidden from eating any food inside.

Meadowhall’s website states: “Our cafes and restaurants are closed but some will be offering a takeaway or delivery option. Due to government restrictions, you cannot consume this food on site so please bear this in mind when purchasing.”

Visitors must also wear a face covering at all times, unless they are exempt for medical reasons.

Shoppers are not currently allowed to eat food while inside Meadowhall.

According to unconfirmed reports on social media, a male shopper was involved in a confrontation with security staff at the centre over food and drink rules.

There were also reports of hour-long queues to get in on Saturday (5 December).
