The long-serving landlords of a pub which is a favourite among Sheffield United fans have dispelled rumours about its future ahead of their departure.

Jayne and Brian Kempshaw have run the Sheaf House on Bramall Lane for 13 years but they have chosen not to renew their lease when it expires this month.

However, the duo have sought to reassure people that rumours it could become a supermarket are wide of the mark.

“The rumours going round saying Sheaf House is getting changed to a Tesco are not true,” they posted on Facebook.

“Our lease is up on June 24 and we are not renewing it. We’ve loved running the Sheaf. We’ve met some wonderful people and match days have been great….
