A popular Sheffield pub has revealed they are going to extend the government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme until next month as the discount proves to be a hit with customers.

Riverside Kelham, near the city centre, broke the news that the pub would continue to offer 50% off food, between Monday and Wednesday until September 30, on social media.

The pub which overlooks the River Don made the decision to continue the popular scheme after 96% of their Instagram followers voted in a poll to say they should extend it.

The scheme which was intended to boost the hospitality trade officially ends on August 31, meaning businesses which extend the offer will no longer receive a government subsidy and will fund the cost themselves

Customers used the discount more than 35 million times in its first two weeks according to figures from the Treasury.
