Popular Costa Coffee in Sheffield closes but there’s good news for staff

A popular Costa Coffee outlet in Sheffield will not reopen – but job losses have been avoided.

The Costa Coffee store on Burncross Road, Chapeltown has permanently closed, the company confirmed, with staff redeployed to other branches nearby.

It comes as the coffee chain last week announced 1,100 of its 2,700 branches will reopen for takeaway and delivery customers before the end of June after nearly three months of closure.

Some branches, including Hillsborough, have already reopened.

A Costa Coffee spokesperson, said: “We can confirm that the Costa Coffee store on Burncross Road, Chapeltown in Sheffield has closed – all team members have been redeployed to other stores in the local area.

“We would like to apologise for the inconvenience the closure may cause customers and hope to welcome them to stores nearby to continue to enjoy our signature, handcrafted coffees.”
