The Railway Hotel’s future looked uncertain when on July 1, days before the reopening of pubs across the country, the previous tenants gave notice that they would be leaving the business with immediate effect.

This led some to believe that coronavirus had caused the end of the well-known pub, which is popular with Sheffield United fans.

However, the owners have confirmed that the pub will not be gone for long, with the search for a new tenant to take over the running of the pub now underway.

Martin Nicholson, Director of Nicholson & Co, the agent instructed search for a new tenant said: “The Railway was closed due to lockdown and the tenant chose to leave the property just before the property could have reopened.

"The property will open again, but to be fully successful and due to its prime location opposite SUFC, spectators will need to be allowed to home games which has a natural and hugely beneficial effect on trade in the Bramall lane and London road area.

"We do expect the property to open again with a new energetic tenant very soon.”

While a reopening date has not yet been set as the search of a tenant continues, the pub is expected to reopen by August. More details of the opportunity and the property are due to be released within the coming weeks.
