Meadowhall tease new store opening as non-essential shops reopen – and customers can’t wait

Hundreds of people queued for Primark to reopen on Monday, April 12, and the shopping centre has been full of excited shoppers eager to get back to their favourite stores.

Meadowhall centre director Darren Pearce described it as a ‘strong, confident start’ after a three-month lockdown and fans were even treated to a new store to visit.

A new Ronnie O’Sullivan store, hosted by memorabilia retailer The Fan Cave, is proving exceptionally popular with fans.

The store is as much a shrine to the sporting great as it is a place to buy goods.

Visitors have the chance to get their photo taken with the World Championship trophy he lifted for the sixth time at last year’s tournament, which postponed due to Covid.

Dan Hoyland, managing director of The Fan Cave, said: “The shop and Ronnie O’Sullivan’s clothing lines which are on sale there have been exceptionally well-received, with people queuing outside to get in on some days.

"It’s a bit of a snooker Mecca where people can look at some of the many trophies he’s collected over the years, see his childhood table and generally go on a bit of a nostalgia trip as he attempts to create more history at the Crucible.”

Now, it seems that there is going to be a new store for shoppers to get excited about.

Meadowhall hinted on Facebook that there could be a new Yorkshire Store popping up in the not too distant future.

They posted: “Have you been inside our Yorkshire Store yet? Swipe to see this little family of cuties! Who’s your favourite?

“..keep an eye out, you might even see another one popping up soon!

“Find them on Park Lane.”

Shoppers were left excited by the announcement with one saying they can’t wait to visit on Saturday afternoon with their family and another saying that it ‘looks lovely’.

The Independent Yorkshire Shop showcases the very best products from local small businesses, including Jasmine Tree, Coley Coco Candles, The Yorkshire Candle Company and Robert James Hull Art.
