McDonald's Sheffield: Refurbishment planned for high profile city centre burger restaurant in listed building

One of Sheffield’s most high profile branches of the McDonald’s burger chain is set for a big makeover.

Bosses at the company have asked for planning permission for the work, which would see alterations made at their site on High Street, near the bottom of Fargate, in Sheffield city centre.

They say they want to make changes inside what the grade two listed building, to bring it in line with new corporate identity.

The restaurant has been trading since October 2000, with the last refurbishment dated back to 2017.

The company says: “Both the ground floor and basement will be refurbished during these works.”

Other works include refurbishment of the toilets.

They added: “This will allow for a review of the seating and new benches and tables introduced in line with the new ‘refreshed design’.”

It did not state whether the venue will have to close while work is carried out.

They have to ask for planning permission before any work is carried out because of the building’s listed status.

McDonald’s has been approached for more information on the timescale.
