Launch of cinema in Crystal Peaks shopping centre in Sheffield delayed for third time
A much-anticipated new cinema at a popular Sheffield shopping centre has been delayed again.
A four-screen venue at Crystal Peaks will not be open until early summer, bosses say.
The centre had a cinema from 1988 until 2003 and news of its return sparked excitement last year.

Bosses said it was set to open in October, then December and then “early 2026.”
Now, it is not due to launch until June “at the earliest.”
When completed, it will have four screens with between 55 and 71 seats. It will have two screens upstairs, in what was Clarks shoes and two below, in what was originally Deep Pan Pizza and more recently Time Cafe.
A Crystal Peaks spokesperson said: “Contractors are on site. It is a massive undertaking, converting two shops over two floors. Big pieces of equipment have had to be installed like lifts and new security and sprinkler systems.”
A 10-screen multiplex opened in 1988 and closed in 2003.
Last year, Crystal Peaks manager Lee Greenwood said a cinema had remained among the top demands from visitors ever since.
