JD Gyms, part of JD Sports Fashion group, is transforming the former Xercise4Less Sheffield Hillsborough gym on Kilner Way Retail Park and the former Xercise4Less Sheffield Guernsey Road, with doors set to open in early January.

Both gyms will feature more than 300 pieces of cardio, strength and functional fitness equipment as well as large free-weight zones, sprint tracks, rigs and boxing areas.

Managing director of JD Gyms, Alun Peacock, said: “Sheffield is a key location for us and we’ve been wanting to bring the JD Gyms brand here for some time as our national roll out

continues.

"We’re incredibly excited to be transforming these two existing gyms and creating a higher standard of fitness facility for the people of Sheffield.”

Each gym will hire up to 15 personal trainers, with an assistant manager and duty manager role also created at both sites.

JD Gyms bought the trade and assets of Xercise4Less, saving staff jobs, when the company went in to administration in July.

The gyms will be open from 6am until 10pm on weekdays and 8am to 8pm on weekends. Free parking will be available on site.

Existing members will receive a free month upon reopening, while new members can pay £5 for the first month’s membership and £19.99 a month thereafter, with no contract and joining fee.
