Hollywood Bowl at Valley Centertainment gives update after being told to stay closed

The Valley Centertainment venue was set to reopen its doors on 4 July until prime minister Boris Johnson confirmed bowling alleys would not be allowed to reopen on the same day as pubs, restaurants and cafes in England. Other businesses unable to resume trading include nail bars, indoor gyms and swimming pools.
Mr Johnson said the culture secretary and business secretary would "establish task forces with public health experts and the sectors" to help closed businesses become Covid-secure and reopen.

Hide AdOliver Dowden, the culture secretary, said the government hopes to re-open gyms and other indoor leisure centres in mid-July.
A Hollywood Bowl spokesperson said: “Although it is naturally disappointing for everyone at Hollywood Bowl and our customers, the wellbeing of our customers and team is our top priority.
“We have made the appropriate changes and taken every precaution possible to ensure their safety in line with government guidelines. We remain ready to reopen as soon we are given government guidance to do so.”
Earlier this month the company announced new safety measures, including pre-ordering food and the use of alternate lanes, to keep people safe. Amusement machines, as well as bar and diner seating, will also be appropriately spaced out and contactless payments will be encouraged.
