Furious Sheffield coffee shop hits back after customer leaves bizarre one-star review

A popular Sheffield cafe was stunned to receive a one-star review despite being shut due to the latest Covid lockdown.

Luckily, Steam Yard on Division Street, in Sheffield city centre, managed to see the funny side after falling victim to possibly the internet’s harshest critic.

The review left via Google My Business stated simply: “Visited but was shut, probably due to Covid :(.”

The cafe’s incredulous owners posted a screengrab of the offending review accompanied by just three words: “Oh come on….”

The review has caused much mirth on social media with one wag imagining how the same customer might have reacted to the scene of the world’s most famous nuclear disaster.

"Chernobyl: Visited, but shut. Probably because of thermonuclear meltdown. One star,” they wrote.

Thankfully, it appears the reviewer is very much in the minority.

Steam Yard boasts a very healthy 4.7-star rating on Google reviews, with customers raving about the quality of its coffee and food as well as the service.
