Peaks Uniques would have been a debut attraction for the shopping centre, offering a chance for small businesses and individual designers and makers to reach a new market.

Running throughout the day, stalls would have been placed throughout the centre, focusing on the unique, bespoke, quirky and interesting.

Crystal peaks centre manager Lee Greenwood, said: “We are really sorry but unfortunately due to the delay in the lifting of social distancing requirements the Peaks Uniques makers market can no longer go ahead on June 26 as planned.

“Peaks Uniques was intended to be a celebratory event to mark the end of the challenging period we have all been through and to generate the familiar hustle and bustle, energy and interaction that makes these type of occasions memorable.”

He said the presence of more than 25 additional stalls in the malls would put too much pressure on foot flow and potentially mean stallholders and customers would be physically unable to observe social distancing.

Lee added “Please be reassured it is definitely something we still want to do as we have been delighted with the response from makers and customers alike.

“To this end we will be planning a new date for a little later in the year when restrictions are lifted and when we hope to be able to make Peaks Uniques even bigger and better.”
