The gargantuan challenge contains over 5,000 calories - the equivalent of walloping six full English breakfasts.

Bronco’s Rodeo Bar & Grill on West Street offers the 3lb hot dog in either the classic style, or topped with oozy mac and cheese or melt in your mouth brisket chilli.

Manager Chris Brown says he has never seen anyone successfully finish up the massive ’showstopper’ hot dog in his time working at the Texas-themed restaurant.

Chris said: “We’re an American restaurant so we added the hot dog because everything is bigger in Texas.

“It’s a real showstopper of a meal - whenever we bring it out you can see jaws on the floor.

“It’s absolutely delicious but I don’t know if I could ever manage it. I’d have to share with someone.

“I’ve not seen any individual person finish it so far - but I think through the years a few competitive eaters have managed.”

The hot dog comes with a portion of chips and is topped with smoked bacon, nacho cheese, and slow-cooked brisket chilli - and costs between £18.75 and £24.75.

Chris recommends sharing the humongous hot dog which he says is ‘delicious’.

He said: “I think it’s a fun hot dog to share with a friend or on a date - it’s a very social meal."
