With lockdown set to lift on December 2, there is potential for non-essential shops to reopen in time for the much-needed Christmas rush. However, for a number of high street businesses in the city opening up again is not an option.

The Covid-19 pandemic has taken its toll on businesses up and down the country, with forced closures during lockdowns hastening an already-steady decline in the number of brick-and-mortar businesses in Sheffield.

Parts of the city centre have drawn criticism over the number of shuttered premises, and the latest set of businesses to announce closure will add to this.
