Companies are being urged to apply for funding to develop technology that will strengthen the UK’s offshore wind capability.
The aim is to help Sheffield City Region firms provide components and services for the maintenance of wind turbines, substations, marine vessels and environmental analysis.
The scheme is being run by GROW:OffshoreWind, supported by the Knowledge Transfer Network.
Based on UK Government projections, the sector could be worth more than £2bn per annum by 2025. There are ‘significant opportunities’ - some 22 offshore wind farms now fully commissioned with a combined capacity of 3653MW.
