The City Region Business Awards have been given a major boost after Sheffield College returned as headline sponsors for a second year.
The deal is a huge endorsement of the competition which brings together winners from the six biggest business awards in the region.
Some 72 entries will fight it out in 13 categories to discover who will be ‘first among winners’.
Sponsorship by The Sheffield College adds to the excitement which is building ahead of the event on July 3 at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield.
A senior member of staff will now go on to the judging panel, which includes last year’s ‘Business Person of the Year’, Sipra Deb, founder of the Play Arena in Sheffield, one of the UK’s biggest play and indoor entertainment centres.
She said: “Winning was an enormous honour personally, but alongside it gave me the added motivation to keep pushing the boundaries.
“In terms of PR, you couldn’t ask for a better platform - you always have family and friends as supporters but now you have the public too!”
Nick Hewer, star of hit BBC show The Apprentice, is the speaker at this year’s event.
He will be supported by BBC Look North’s Clare Frisby who returns as host. The presenter has agreed following a superb performance last year.
This year’s contest will celebrate the importance of apprentices to the region’s fast-growing economy.
The ceremony brings together contests run by the region’s four Chambers of Commerce plus, for the first time this year, those run by the Derbyshire Times and the Mansfield Chad
