STAFF and volunteers from furniture re-use charity Refurnish were treated to a reception in the Mansion House.
The social enterprise firm has helped reduce the amount of local waste going to landfill and recently spread its wings with the opening of its new premises in Waterdale.
It collects bulky household furniture and goods from homes across the borough and, wherever possible, the items are reused or recycled.
Civic Mayor Coun Eva Hughes said: “We are all very proud of what Refurnish has achieved.
“Since they opened in 2003, Refurnish have given used but perfectly functional furniture a new lease of life, transforming it into refurbished and affordable items.
“They are a tremendous asset to the local environment as their work means that unwanted furniture isn’t dumped unnecessarily.”
Andy Simpson from Refurnish said: “Refurnish are proud to be invited to the Mansion House by the Civic Mayor in acknowledgment of charitable achievements.”
