Corporate lawyers from Sheffield have played a key role in German global chemicals distribution group Brenntag’s acquisition of the Multisol Group.

Nabarro’s corporate partner, Ben Hendry, led the legal team, which included Gareth Saynor and Jeremy Thompson and colleagues from the firm’s Sheffield and London offices as well as law firms with which Nabarro has links in France, Russia, South Africa and Spain.

Mr Hendry said: “It is always a pleasure to work on a deal which supports the strategic growth of a client’s business.

“The scope of the support Nabarro offered Brenntag and the effectiveness of our international alliances have been clearly demonstrated on a deal which is truly global in scale.”

Clare Waters, managing director of Brenntag UK and Ireland, praised the work of the Nabarro team.

Ms Waters said: “The commercially aware, prompt advice we received from the team at Nabarro and its extended international network played an important part in helping us secure this strategic deal.”

Multisol is a specialist distributor of lubricant additives and base oils in Europe and Africa and works with some of the world’s largest producers.

The company employs around 170 people, compared to Brenntag’s 12,000 and expects to achieve sales of £238 million in 2012,

The deal marks a step change in the expansion of Brenntag’s capabilities and product range.
