A SHEFFIELD chef has won a top award for his work at a restaurant at Meadowhall.

Edit Racz from La Tasca was named chef of the year at the chain’s annual conference.

She received the award in front of 150 guests at the company’s event held in Leeds.

Edit has been with La Tasca since 2005, starting as a kitchen porter.

She was praised for providing a consistent quality of food and for being an excellent team player.

Edit said: “To win the chef of the year award was one of the proudest moments in my life.

“I was pleasantly surprised when I was nominated for the award - seeing my name on the screen felt like the six years of hard work and determination had been truly appreciated.”

Edit’s manager Elaine Whitfield praised the chef’s determination.

She said: “It meant so much to her to be recognised after all her hard work.

“Over the years with us she has developed into an accomplished chef and was promoted to kitchen manager three years ago.

“She has constantly pushed herself to improve and has also shown fantastic support to other La Tascas. She hopes to be area chef one day and I plan to do everything I can to help her get there.”
