A company cycle team who took on the Austrian Alps in a five-day ride have reached a target of raising a £50,000 for charity.

The annual ‘Tour of Europe’ ride is organised by the Barnsley retail property developer Dransfield Properties.

The firm fielded a 19-strong team which covered 400 miles, from Trieste in Italy, climbing 14,000 ft into the Austrian Alps, before arriving in the southern German city of Munich.

They supported Action Against Cancer and Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research and other charities.

Mark Dransfield said: “We had some very tough climbs to face but the team did really well in the cycling and the fundraising.”
