DONCASTER business leaders have welcomed a review by former Government minister Lord Heseltine’s on British industry’s competitiveness.

His Review of UK Competitiveness sets out a plan to improve the UK’s ability to create wealth and outlines recommendations for an increased role for chambers of commerce.

Dan Fell, deputy chief executive at Doncaster Chamber, said: “We are awaiting further details about Lord Heseltine’s specific recommendations about the role of chambers but are delighted that he has recognised the importance of the chambers remaining as independent organisations that have a primary function in representing the primary sector and guiding economic strategy at a local level.”
