Businesses in Sheffield deployed an army of staff to boost a hard-hit youth club.

Employees from law firms DLA Piper and Irwin Mitchell were among those who swapped the office for overalls to revamp a room for Darnall Youth Club, as part of nationwide Give and Gain Day.

The new space will be used by secondary schools in the area, along with Youth Offending Service staff carrying out one-to-one work with young people.

A spokeswoman for Sheffield Futures, which runs Darnall Youth Club, said: “Darnall Youth Club is under financial pressure. They do not have the resources available to undertake cosmetic work to the project. This will make a positive difference to the project’s environment.”
