Business contest picks up speed

A CAMPAIGN to boost promising young businesses and highlight the benefits of local newspaper advertising has got a £10,000 prize boost from the Business Growth Fund.

The Local Business Accelerators campaign is being run by local newspapers across the country, including The Star.

It offers businesses from one to five years old the chance to benefit from a free local advertising campaign and mentoring from a leading local business expert.

Successful businesses will also go through to a national contest where they could win a year’s mentoring from the campaign’s ambassador and Dragons’ Den judge Deborah Meaden and a local advertising campaign devised by a top London creative ad agency.

Now, thanks to the Business Growth Fund – an independent company which aims to help Britain’s fast growing smaller and medium sized businesses – they will also be vying for a £10,000 cash prize.

Four local companies have already entered The Star’s Local Business Accelerators contest.
