BUS fares are to go up across South Yorkshire next month, one of the region’s main transport companies has announced.
Fares on First buses are set to increase by an average of five per cent from January 2.
The firm has blamed the price rise on increasing fuel costs, as well as a planned rise to fuel duty rates.
Dave Alexander, regional managing director at First, said the company has not changed prices for almost two years and needs to meet the ‘ongoing challenge’ of rising costs.
