Brownfield plan given green light

Regeneration specialist Dransfield Properties is on target to get the go-ahead for a £30 million project after the Government confirmed it does not plan to intervene.

Barnsley-based Dransfield and Gallagher Estates’ plans to transform a 14-acre, brownfield site in Walsall won approval from the local council in June.

However, the application to build a 75,000 sq ft foodstore, town centre car park and a mixture of family homes and apartments had to be referred to the Government because of its size.

n Dransfield has raised 28,000 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital after fielding a team in the hospital charity’s annual 10K race.

The money will help fund the first patient interactive entertainment and education system to be installed in the hospital. It will be launched in November.
