Philomena Miguens, a mum of one from Gleadless, gives us her best and worst beauty buys:

HIT: No7 Sheer Temptation lipstick, £9.50, Boots

I buy this lipstick in a shade called Entice and it is perfect for me. The pinky-purple colour is lovely and it has a nice, glossy finish and is very moisturising, which is important as I always have dry lips. It is good value for the money.

MISS: Skin Hair Nails, £9.99, Holland & Barrett

I bought these vitamin tablets because I really like natural products and health supplements and I wanted to give my hair, skin and nails a boost. I took then for four months but they didn’t do any good. My nails were no stronger, I was still getting spots and my hair didn’t feel any thicker or softer. They might suit someone else, but I thought I’d wasted my money.

Splendours Colour Quartet & Eye Liner Palette, £31, Clarins

I love this limited edition summer set. The powders are intensely pigments wand have only a subtle shimmer- which is better on ageing faces. I’ve been wearing the pale gold shadow every day as a wash of subtle colour on lids. The gel-cream liner is fabulous. It glides on, blends beautifully and stays put even in the heat. I especially love the pointy-ended applicator; it’s perfect for smudging eye pencils and will be in my beauty bag long after the palette has been used up.
