A Barnsley couple are aiming for business growth at a canter after buying a 70-acre stables in Barnsley for more than £100,000.
Steve and Angela Hutchinson hope to extend and improve the facilities after snapping up Aldham Mill Farm Equestrian Centre in Wombwell.
The couple have already developed nine new stables with tack rooms, new feeders, auto drinkers and individual paddocks - all of which have been let.
They also have plans to build a block of six stables by the end of August, and house 30 horses by the end of their first year in business. Their longer term objective is to have 35 on the site.
Meanwhile, the indoor arena is set to be extended to create a full-size dressage stadium with floodlighting and seating.
Up to 15 permanent jumps are set to be built in an outdoor arena and a cross country course installed.
Steve Hutchinson said: “I am pleased that we have been successful in our acquisition of the equestrian centre.
“We have a lot of plans to develop and extend the facility and have already started work on many of them in order to maximise its potential.
“The equestrian centre has a very good reputation in the area and some fantastic facilities which we intend to continue to improve and develop for the benefit of our customers.
“The support we have received from RBS throughout the acquisition process has been excellent and has allowed us to fulfil our ambitions of owning an equine facility.
“I’d like to thank the team for working alongside us and making the whole process as straightforward as possible.”
RBS helped the couple buy with a six-figure funding package.
Steve Ebsworth, relationship manager, said: “The plans that Steve and Angela have for the facility are impressive and we wish them all the best.
“It’s great that we have been able to support the couple to achieve their business aspirations and look forward to seeing the improvements they intend to make when they are finished.”
