A motorbike rider from South Yorkshire has died during a race on the Isle of Man.

Gary Firth, 50, from Barnsley, was killed during Friday’s Senior Manx Grand Prix.

A spokesman for the Manx Motor Cycle Club said: “The Manx Motor Cycle Club wish to pass on their deepest sympathy to Gary’s family and friends.

“The Coroner of Inquests has been informed and an investigation into the circumstances of the accident is underway.”

Mr Firth had recorded his fastest lap of 102mph earlier in the race.
