Award for helping in floods

Staff from Sheffield Hallam University's facilities directorate have won a special award at the Hospitality Sheffield awards for the way they responded to a call for help from Sheffield City Council, following June's disastrous floods.

When a full scale disaster was declared, the facilities directorate management team quickly set up an emergency centre where people could get the latest information and advice and then co-ordinated the provision of accommodation and bedding for people who had been stranded.

Other accolades at the Hospitality Sheffield Awards were:

Sheffield’s Shooting Star Award went to Katy Alcock from Sheffield University; the Innovator Award went to Richard Brand from The Hilton Hotel and the Unsung Hero Award went to Sue Collett from Conference 21@Sheffield Hallam University
