Auctioneer Lucy Crapper has been named Head of Northern Auctions and an associate director with the Countrywide property group.
Lucy is making the move from Senior Residential Valuer and Auctioneer with Blundells to take up responsibility for parent group Countrywide’s Property Auctions brand.
“This is a really exciting opportunity for both Blundells and myself,” says Lucy, 40,the eldest daughter of the late Patrick Crapper – a well-known local auctioneer, surveyor and co-founder of Crapper and Haigh.
“I’ll still be working for Blundells here in the city but my new role will see me take responsibility for a much larger area right across the North of England, with the support of a team of auction surveyors with expert knowledge in each region.”
In addition to being Blundells’ senior residential valuer, Lucy launched Blundells’ auction department in 2008, since when it has sold more than £50 million worth of property across the South Yorkshire Region.
“I can remember at an early age being dragged around empty properties on Saturday mornings with dad, being taught everything from the difference between wet and dry rot, to what an RSJ is,” says Lucy.
“My dad was hugely passionate about auctioneering and this must have rubbed off. We even did father-daughter auctions together, for both Blundells and various charities.
“I accepted the family gavel from him six years ago and I’ve not looked back since. I’m fortunate that I love what I do and I can’t wait to get started on this next exciting stage of my career.”
Blundells became part of the Countrywide Group in 2011.
