ARM Holdings, the semiconductor company with operations in Sheffield, has been named one of the world’s five most innovative companies by Forbes, the leading American business magazine.
Forbes ranks companies on the basis of investors’ views on their ability to be innovative now and in the future.
ARM’s semiconductor modules are at the heart of mobile phones, digital cameras and televisions, set top boxes, in-car displays and entertainment systems, calculators, electronic kiosks, card readers and a host of other hi-tech devices.
Its Sheffield operation specialises in making sure those modules will work together, helping customers get the most out of them, pushing the envelope and exploring the potential of different combinations.
The Sheffield operation also develops chipset designs to demonstrate what the group’s processors are capable of – including features which clients may never have thought of before.
The company is one of five UK businesses in Forbes listing of the world’s 100 most innovative firms and the only UK company in the top quarter of the table.
