Apprenticeship vacancies in Sheffield have hit a high as the city’s employers back a new generation of workers.

Data reveals a 28 per cent increase in vacancies in the city posted online on an apprenticeship website between August and October 2014 compared to the same period the previous year.

A total of 680 vacancies were advertised over the three months versus 530 in 2013/14.

In addition many more opportunities were offered by employers to young people directly for the current academic year.
