A 19th century office complex could be extended and converted into apartments.

Sheffield-based Primesite UK Ltd has submitted plans for the building on the corner of Clarkehouse Road and Rutland Park, Broomhall.

The building, opposite the Botanical Gardens, was formerly home to Wake Smith Solicitors.

The proposal is to demolish an extension to the rear, convert the main building to create nine apartments, build another block comprising two apartments, and put up two houses.

According to the planning application, the apartments and houses are of a more modern design than their surroundings, which largely fit with the main office block.

The application adds: “The site itself offers a unique opportunity to create a high-quality contemporary set of town houses.”
