South Yorkshire Housing Association is among 45 organisations shortlisted for a Government loan to build new homes.

The organisation, which is hoping for cash to help it create 149 homes in Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Chesterfield, was one of only nine other housing associations which were successfully shortlisted for the Government’s Build to Rent Fund.

Miranda Plowden, SYHA business development director, said: “We are delighted to be through to the next round of this initiative.

“The private rented market is growing exponentially and housing associations are keen to bring their standards of design and management to this sector.”
