Accountants merge offices

Grant Thornton is merging its Sheffield and Leeds offices, but says the move to create a regional headquarters in Leeds will not lead to job cuts or office closures.

Sheffield office managing partner, Garry Meakin, becomes managing partner of the merged practice and Leeds office managing partner, Jonathan Riley becomes senior practice partner for Yorkshire.

Grant Thornton’s chief executive, Scott Barnes, said the changes would ensure the firm had an incredibly strong management team to steer its work in Yorkshire and North East.”
