SOUTH Yorkshire performance management training expert Maria Clews is helping to train engineers and managers redeveloping the site in New York destroyed when terrorists crashed planes into the twin towers sky scrapers.
Maria, from Ask Training Services, created a tailored training programme for engineers and operations managers who are redeveloping what is now known as Ground Zero.
The Sheffield-based trainer regularly provides consultancy sessions for Doka, a leading concrete construction business, which is working on the site.
She went to Canada, Chicago, Washington and New York to deliver a management training “Boot Camp.”
Doka chief engineer Bob Kent praised Maria’s work on the company’s behalf.
“Maria’s Boot Camp was intense, well prepared and presented and liked by every participant,” said Mr Kent.
“The intent was to provide management skills sets that were common and important to our managers while focusing on team building exercises with real life situation role plays, enabling them to better lead their teams in a more united business decision-making process rather than allowing emotional persuasion from other staff members to influence their decisions.
“Because of the project’s high profile, it was essential for our team of engineers to coordinate, plan and support all work activities along with our operations to ensure the success of this project.
“Maria’s work created a great sense of team building which was evident throughout the training.”
Doka’s contracts also include work on the Hoover Dam project; the world’s talles building, the Burj Dubai and The Bahamas Atlantis luxury resort.
