Insolvency experts and lawyers from Sheffield have helped to save 435 jobs at Chesterfield-based outdoor clothing and camping equipment retailer W Yeomans.

Administrators Gareth Rusling and Chris White from The P&A Partnership sold the business and 84 stores in a pre-pack deal, immediately following their appointment.

Chris White said: “In these challenging times for the retail sector we are pleased to have been able to save such an established brand and to safeguard jobs.”

Hlw Keeble Hawson provided legal advice.

Neil Kelly, from the lawyers, added: “It is testament to the effective teamwork between all parties that this deal was turned around so quickly, causing minimum disruption to the business.”

Yeomans was founded in 1904 when Walter Yeomans opened a shop in Chesterfield. The company has high street shops, outdoor stores in garden centres and outlet shops in England, Scotland and Wales.
