Bin collections SUSPENDED in Sheffield as heavy snow covers roads

Sheffield City Council and Veolia said snow and ice have created ‘unsafe conditions on the roads and footpaths’.
Where safe to do so, residents are advised to leave their bins out until they have been emptied.

Hide AdThe situation will continue to be reviewed throughout the day and if safe to do so, another attempt to empty bins will be made later today.
Snow is forecast for most of the day and a weather warning is in place.
Steve Newman, General Manager for Veolia Sheffield, said: “Snow and ice can lead to unsafe conditions on roads and footpaths, making it difficult for our crews to empty bins.
“We must always prioritise the safety of our colleagues and the community, and in some circumstances, this can mean a temporary suspension of collections.”
