Dates including Chesterfield show announced for 2021 tour by Strictly dance star Giovanni Pernice

Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice returns to the stage in his show This Is Me next year, after his current tour had to be halted.

The Italian professional dancer was devastated to have to put his 2020 tour on hold just a couple of weeks after opening night because of lockdown.

He told fans: “We have to think of everyone’s health and wellbeing.

"Thank you to all of the amazing audiences we have had and apologies to those that haven’t seen the show yet.

"I hope we will be able to return soon… but in the meantime, be safe, be healthy, look after each other and be kind.”

He has become a firm fan favourite, having been on the hit BBC TV show since 2015 and has reached the final three times, with Georgia May Foote, Debbie McGee, and Faye Tozer respectively.

Dance work caught on camera

In 2019 series Giovanni was partnered with Michelle Visage, who is a judge on the popular TV show RuPaul’s Drag Race, making it all the way to the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool.

He is hoping that this is the year when he can finally bag the glitterball trophy, assuming that all the Covid-safe precautions that the BBC are putting in place mean that the show will actually go ahead this year.

The tour begins next February and tickets can be booked directly through the theatres or at www.giovannipernice.com.

Local dates are Pomegranate Theatre, Chesterfield on March 18, Buxton Opera House on March 31 and Cast in Doncaster on April 10.
