‘Written in the Stars’, a new matchmaking reality show á la Love Island, launches this Sunday (November 27) on Discovery+ and hopes to prove the old adage that Libras and Leos get along best by matching six couples based on their birth sign.

Twelve single strangers will be shipped to a villa in Porto Heli in Greece and flung together based on their horoscope. Do the stars have it right or does spirituality fall away during the ups and downs of dating?

Ahead of the debut this Sunday, The Star spoke to Sheffield model Kayleigh Fay, a Pisces and contestant on ‘Written in the Stars’ who says the show will be “10 episodes of wholesome fun packed full of emotions”.

'Written in the Stars' hopes to test if horoscopes and zodiac compatibility really can make a match when it is used to pair off 12 strangers in a Greek villa. “I got into spirituality during the pandemic,” said Kayleigh, 32, who is a full-time model in Manchester and has previously appeared as one of ITV’s Take Me Out’s ‘30 flirty girls’.

“I never stop – I run several small businesses and organize a charity, Sheffield’s Secret Santa – so, for me, Covid was about slowing down and finding myself. Now I see a spiritual advisor every week. I take it very seriously – I think it’s about digging into your personality and finding your path.”

Kayleigh who says she was a “farmer’s daughter” in Eckington before growing up in Woodseats and even got her start when she won ‘Miss Sheffield 2008’, says she was approached on Instagram to get involved but wasn’t told the gimmick until the first night of filming.

“I post a lot about astrology, and even when I got to the villa and met all the other cast members and we were all asking each other their star sign, I didn’t make the connection that was why they picked us until they announced it,” said Kayleigh.

“The show began and we got matched with each other’s zodiac. Our matches were with us throughout the journey, with tasks and lots of emotions. There was a counsellor and a diary room in the villa, and the three main astrologers who presented it gave us advice.”

Kayleigh couldn’t say too much about her match or how it went. But, she says she’s still believes the stars had a hand in the events of the show.

“They filmed over three weeks during a lunar moon in June,” said Kayleigh. “And, yeah, emotions were definitely heightened on the night of the full moon!

“I’m still a big believer in astrology following the show. And, even if some of the relationships didn’t succeed during the show, a lot of new friendships absolutely have. Every single cast member was amazing and we all had the same vibes. I think me and the girls chat daily. We went through such an intense process, and keeping it a secret for months afterwards has brought us all together.

“I think anyone watching will resonate with someone on the cast. It’s 10 episodes packed full of emotions, and they might even learn a bit about themselves.”

Written in the Stars, featuring famous astrologers Michele Knight, Colin Bedell and Francesca Oddie, debuts on streaming service Discovery+ this Sunday.
