New snooker drama Break, which was filmed at the world championships at the Crucible Theatre, claims to have been the first to have a drive-in cinema premiere.

Hollyoaks star Terri Dwyer, who appears in the movie and also worked on it as a producer, describes Break as ‘Rocky with a snooker cue’.

Terri said Break is “about an underdog. It’s an inspirational rags to riches feelgood film.”

It stars Sam Gittins (Await Further Instructions, Obey) as a talented but troubled young snooker player, Jamie Foreman, David Yip and Rutger Hauer in his last role. Terri plays Spencer’s mum, Cathy.

Snooker stars including Jack Lisowski, Liang Wenbo and Ken Doherty appear in scenes shot at the Crucible.

The film will be shown this weekend alongside some favourite movies at Don Valley Bowl.
